We all wish to live long, productive lives, so why do we have wars? Was not the Great War fought to end all wars? Yet it became a catalyst for the death of some 50 million folks some 25 years later. To foster peace, the Great War gave rise to the short-lived League of Nations, and the Second World War to the United Nations. We had a common place for dialogue, and the brotherhood of nations. Peace, lasting peace, was well within our grasp.
